Langshan Mountain

Langshan Mountain ranks top among the five mountains and is the most reputable one. It is 106.9 meters above sea level and has an area of 18 hectares. The name Langshan was first recorded on the "Biography of A Monk's Voyage Eastward”. It recorded how the Monk Jianzhen braved all the hardships to make his eastward voyages to Japan. According to a legendary story, once there were white wolves on the mountain, and the mountain looked like a wolf. Therefore, people call it "The Wolf Mountain". During the Chunhua years in the Northern Song Dynasty, a state officer Yang Jun thought that the word "wolf" was not graceful, and replaced it with "Lang". Also, because most of the rocks are purple, it is also called "The Purple Lang Mountain ".

Langshan Mountain ranks top among the eight famous Buddhist Mountains, and is called "the top mountain on the east of Yangtze River". Pavilions, terraces and towers are jaggedly laid out. Ancient pagodas tower into the sky. The hill below is enveloped in drizzly fog. Because Langshan Mountain is a Buddhists resort east the Yangtze River, the mountain enjoys an unending stream of pilgrims and endless bell. Thousands of pilgrims come here to worship Budda. Langshan Mountain is unimpeded in the south and quiet in the south with awe and elegance. Over thousands of years, countless literati lingered here for a long time. The calligrapher in Song Dynasty wielded his writing brush and wrote "The Top Mountain"; Wang Anshi also eulogized it--"Traveling around the mountain has widen my vision". The national hero Wen Tianxiang left an immortal poem in Langshan Mountain. With its magnificent scenery, Langshan Scenic Spot has attracted thousands of tourists from home and abroad every year.
